Cancer Treatment Centers of America Announces New Platform Called Clinical Pathways

In February 2017, Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) announced a new partnership it had formed with two other companies in the healthcare industry. Together they built a new program called Clinical Pathways which helps healthcare providers in a number of ways. They can operate more efficiently because the program shows them all appropriate treatment options for their patients, which has been customized to their patient’s individual needs and what their disease will best respond to. It also supplies further information such as adverse drug reactions and the toxicity of different drugs used in treatment.

The partners for Clinical Pathways are NantHealth and Allscripts. NantHealth supplied is clinical decision support system to the joint project while Allscripts supplied their electronic health records system and data. The Chief Medical Officer at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Dr. George Daneker Jr., said that the Clinical Pathways project eliminates the potential guesswork that clinicians were often conducting and instead can base their care on more fact-based information.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America is a national organization that was established in 1988. Today it incorporates five regional hospitals with each one providing its services in a different region of the United States. They are a for-profit network that specializes in treating patients with many forms of cancer. They use an integrative approach that treats the whole patient. They perform surgeries and also use radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy in their approach.

CTCA also supports the patient’s mental and physical needs as they go through cancer treatment. This can involve the patient experiencing severe weight loss, pain, fatigue, nausea, anxiety, and depression. CTCA has specialized staff that treat these patients in a caring and supportive way so that their recovery is as comfortable as possible. CTCA is based in Boca Raton, Florida.
