Some Students will Stand, Instead of Marching for thier Lives

The current debate over gun laws have caused a lot of controversy over the past school year. In February of 2018, 17 people were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. In response to these death, students at the school decided to organize a huge protest in Washington D.C. This event took place on March 24, 2018 and hundreds of thousands of people were in attendance.

The march was designed to get lawmakers to change their mind about guns and it was also done to make people understand the importance of school safety. Young people from all over the nation participated in this event and it was a huge success. While millions of young people wanted stiffer gun laws or for guns to be completely banned, some young people wanted the exact opposite.

The Stand for the Second movement was started in response to the March for Our Lives movement. The Stand for the Second movement was rarely advertised or covered by the news. Students who believe in the second amendment of the Constitution, marched out of their classrooms across the nation. They did this early in May for 17 minutes. Huffington Post stated that students from 40 states participated in this event.

The Stand for the Second movement supporter want the world to know they are for gun ownership and that the current laws work. While many people do not agree with these young people and their stance on guns; they do have the right to express how they feel about the issue. Every side should be able to express how they feel about this issue.
