James Dondero is not only an entrepreneur, but he is also a philanthropist. His days are long, and even when he is not working, he is giving back to the community. One of his projects includes funding the Dallas Zoo so that they would be able to remain open and to have the hippos reside there which is a big attraction to many visitors. Thanks to his generosity, it is now possible to have events at the zoo in the Highland Capital Lodge, and the zoo is able to attract larger crowds and more funding to the zoo. If it weren’t for Dondero and the support of his company, the habitat of the hippos wouldn’t have been made possible. The Simmons Hippo Outpost contains a 5,000-square-foot lodge that draws in a good portion of the zoo’s visitors.
James Dondero and his firm, Highland Capital Management, has also generously donated funds to the Perot Museum of Natural Science and to the Education is Freedom charity. He also founded the Highland Dallas Foundation with chief financial officer Ms. Jalonick. Because of their collaborative efforts, it has been possible to offer financial assistance to many organizations in the Dallas area including veterans, various charities, students, and civic organizations.
Dondero recently joined Linda Owen, former CEO of Woodall Rogers Park Foundation, in order to renovate the northern area of Texas. Dondero began his career at JPMorgan Chase & Co. and went on to work at American Express. He earned degrees from the University of Virginia which helped him to gain the knowledge he needed to become the co-founder f Highland Capital Management. The company has upheld a good reputation since 1993 and has made it possible to do a lot of good for many charitable organizations.
Although Dondero has been a solid supporter of many organizations in the Dallas community, he has also been a powerful force for many organizations worldwide. He is especially focused on the well-being of veterans and on education.
